The ongoing ceasefire between Israel and Hamas has been extended by one more day.

“The operational pause will continue in light of the mediators' efforts to continue the process of releasing the hostages taken by Hamas,” the Israeli military tweeted.

A ceasefire was announced for six days from last Friday with the agreement to release hostages and prisoners on both sides. Just minutes before it was due to expire, the period of ceasefire has been extended by one more day, with the agreement of both sides.

Meanwhile, Israel has released some Palestinian prisoners in its prisons and hostages held by Hamas.

With the extension of the cease-fire, there is hope that Nepali student Bipin Joshi, who is under the control of Hamas, will also be released.
