Quake-affected to get up to 2.5 mln house loan at 2% premium

The government has said the people hit by the recent earthquake can receive a house loan at the 2 percent premium for the reconstruction of their houses.

Unveiling a quarterly review of the Monetary Policy for the current fiscal year 2023/24 on Friday, Nepal Rastra Bank said banks and financial institutes (BFIs) will provide a loan up to Rs 2.5 million to the earthquake survivors at a premium rate of 2 percent to rebuild their houses damaged by the recent earthquake.

Similarly, the BFIs have been asked to put aside profits made during the fiscal year 2022/23 and 2023/24 for the social responsibility fund and contribute up to 40 percent for the reconstruction of houses, schools, public hospitals and health posts damaged by Jajarkot the earthquake.

On July 7, 2023, Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB), had made public the Monetary Policy for the current Fiscal Year 2023/24.
