Sudan Kiranti clinches HoR seat in Bhojpur

Sudan Kiranti of the CPN (Maoist Centre), the common candidate of the ruling alliance, has won the election to the Member of the House of Representatives from Bhojpur, defeating former Chief Minister of Province-1, Sherdhan Rai of the CPN-UML.

Kiranti secured 28,578 votes while Rai polled 26,193, the Office of the Returning Officer said. With this election victory Kiranti has won three elections to the HoR.

There were 123 thousand 379 registered voters and of them, 61,830 cast votes in this constituency in the election to the Member of House of Representatives and Province Assembly (PA) held on November 20.  Three thousand one hundred and sixty-eight votes were assessed to be invalid.

Twelve candidates were in the race for the HoR election, seven in the PA constituency 1 and six in PA constituency 2 in the district. Chief Minister of Province no 1 Rajendra Kumar Rai of the CPN (Unified Socialist) has won the PA seat from Bhojpur PA electoral constituency 1. He garnered 16,110 votes and his closest competitor Hari Bahadur Rai of the CPN (UML) got 12,223.

Similarly, Nepali Congress district president Binod Bantawa has been elected the Province Assembly Member from Bhojpur PA constituency 2. He obtained 13,579 votes and his nearest contender Khadga Bahadur Karki of UML got 12,838, the Office f the Chief Election Officer said.
