Girish Chandra Lal-led probe panel to deal with 'dedicated' line dues

The government has formed an investigation commission led by former Justice Girish Chandra Lal to resolve the issues related to dedicated and trunk line electricity tariff dues.

A cabinet meeting on Tuesday formed the investigation commission to deal with the dedicated and trunk line standing tariff dues.

The commission has two joint secretaries – one each from the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supply and the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, according to a minister privy to the cabinet meeting.

According to the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) 61 companies had to settle standing electricity dues amounting to Rs 22. 24 billion accumulated as of mid-December.
