Chairman of the CPN (Maoist Center) Pushpa Kamal Dahal alias Prachanda has expressed dismay over the election results and warned that the country may face a political crisis in the days to come.
Prachanda, who is also a former prime minister, made the remarks at a post-election rally held in Gorkha earlier today. He said that the election outcomes may trigger yet another political instability in the country.
"I don't want to blame anyone for the present mess. But time has come for everyone including myself to realize what really went wrong. We will also make overall assessment of elections in our party," he said while commenting on the ongoing vote counting results.
Prachanda's statement comes at a time when his party CPN (Maoist Center), which went into polls under the Congress-led alliance, has fared poorly in the elections. Prachanda said that they will work to safeguard hard-earned political achievements.
"The country was on the verge of political disaster some time ago. However, we averted that crisis," he said while recalling then Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli's act of dissolving parliament twice which brought a political instability in the country.
Meanwhile, Prachanda urged all the leaders to work towards bringing people-oriented programs so that their political fate won't be at risk.
Earlier on Thursday, the CPN (UML) Chairman KP Sharma Oli also made similar remarks. He said that the election results were unexpected and that could push the country into a political quagmire. Oli also claimed that horse trading may begin as no political party will have an absolute majority in parliament.
