Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has suspended rape-convict Sandeep Lamichhane from the Nepal National Cricket Team after he was sentenced to eight years in jail by the court.
“Cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane has been suspended from the national and international cricket matches after he was sentenced to eight years in jail for committing a rape by the Kathmandu District Court,” reads the press note issued by the CAN.
Hearing on the rape case, Kathmandu District Court Judge Shishir Raj Dhakal on Wednesday slapped Sandeep with an eight-year jail term along with a fine of Rs 3000,000 and Rs 200,000 in compensation to the victim.
