Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand has suffered electoral defeat.

Rastriya Prajtantra Party election candidate Dipak Bohara defeated Khand by 2042 votes. Bohara bagged 36648 votes while Minister Khand received 34006 votes.

Khand contested elections to the House of Representatives from Rupandehi-3 as a common candidate of the Nepali Congress-led ruling alliance.

Bohara was backed by the main opposition CPN-UML.
