A new foot trail stretching from Nepal-Indian checkpoint in the south to Nepal-China checkpoint in the north has been constructed.
Earthbound Expedition P. Ltd., an adventure travel company that offers many trips including a private day hiking tour of Kathmandu Nepal, has built the foot trail that stretches from Khunuwa in Nawalparasi to Rasuwagadhi checkpoint in Rasuwa.
Organizing a press meet on Monday evening, the travel company informed that the new foot trail has been constructed with a view to promoting the tourism in Nepal by connecting the mountain to the terai, said Rajan Simkhada, the chairman of the Earthbound Expedition.
“A mountain trail comes to our mind when we talk about foot trail. As opposed to the traditional concept, we have built the foot trail stretching from terai to the mountain to promote tourism cashing on cultures, traditions and religions of the mountainous region,” said Simkhada.
The foot trail that begins from Khunuwa border point in Kapilvastu passes Rupandehi, Palpa, Tanahu, Gorkha, Dhading before ending at Kerung checkpoint in Rasuwa.
Khunuwa from where the trail starts from is 60 meters above sea level) and Rasuwagadhi checkpoint where the trail ends is situated at 4,080 meters.
American Hiker Mike Oberstar was also involved in the course of exploring the foot trail. Speaking at the press meet, American Hiker Mike said Nepal has many interesting places to attract foreigners like him.
Simkhada said the trail is 40 km long and it takes around 17 days to cover the distance.
