Federal Council Chairman of Janata Samajbadi has been elected as a member of the House of Representatives from Sunsari-1.
According to the Election Commission Rai garnered 17,059 votes to defeat his closest rival Goma Tamang, candidate of Rastriya Swatantra Party, who received 16,606 votes.
Similarly, Muksahang Subba of the democratic-left alliance (CPN (Maoist Center) became third with 14,087 votes.
