Nepali Congress General Secretary Bishwa Prakash Sharma said (that) he will launch a campaign to make the party's other General Secretary Gagan Kumar Thapa the prime minister.

Newly elected lawmaker of the House of Representatives (HoR) Sharma, who reached Gyaneshwor to congratulate Thapa on Tuesday evening, said he will launch a campaign in the party to make Thapa the prime minister.

Sharma, who was elected as a member of the HoR from Jhapa-1, went to Thapa's residence at Gyaneshwar straight from Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) and congratulated him.

Sharma said he did not come to Kathmandu only to congratulate Thapa on his elections as a lawmaker but also launch a campaign to make him the prime minister.

Sharma came to Kathmandu by a flight today evening from Jhapa.

Meanwhile, he further said that Thapa has already gained sufficient experience to become the prime minister.

"Thapa has already become a lawmaker many times now and gained experiences of running ministerial portfolios, too," said Sharma, adding, "Now he should be ready to take the helm of the government," said Sharma.

He further said that we, as a member of a democratic party, should represent the voice of the people and the country as a whole and move ahead in consultation with the other lawmakers and senior leaders of the party.
