'Russia ready to scrap contract of recruited Nepalis willing to return home'

Foreign Affairs Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha has informed that the Russian Federation has agreed in principle to scrap the contract of those Nepalis willing to return home from the Russian Army.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation agreed in principle to scrap the contracts of those Nepalis willing to return home from the Russian Army,” Minister Shrestha quoted Foreign Affairs Minister of Russia, Sergey Lavrov as saying, while answering the questions raised in the House of Representatives on Monday, “Its modality is yet to be formulated.”

He further revealed that the Russian Federation has already initiated the process of providing compensation and insurance money to the families of the victims.  

“The Russian Federation has initiated the process of providing the compensation and the insurance money to the families of victims,” said Minister Shrestha, “The compensation will be provided to the families of victims through the Department of Consular Services.

Minister Shrestha told the lawmakers that the Nepali Embassy in Moscow is also working on it.
