Chairman of Janamat Party Chandra Kanta (CK) Raut has met with Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba on Thursday afternoon.

Raut, who appeared as a kingmaker in the formation of the next coalition government, held talks with Prime Minister Deuba at Baluwatar, sources have said.

NC leader Bimalendra Nidhi, who is considered close to Deuba, had held a meeting with Raut on Wednesday itself.

Raut, during the meeting with Nidhi, said he would join the new government if Janamat Party’s demands were addressed.

The five-party ruling alliance is struggling hard to garner majority to form the next coalition government.

Prime Minister Deuba, other leaders from the ruling coalition including the CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ have held talks with the leaders of fringe parties and independent lawmakers.

Likewise, Prachanda and CPN (Unified Socialist) Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal have also met with Resham Chaudhary, founder of the Nagarik Unmukti Party, who is currently serving a jail term, seeking his support for the new government.

Raut has been elected as a lawmaker of the House of Representatives from Saptari-2. Raut's party has crossed the threshold to earn a recognition of the national party.

This party may have a total of four to five lawmakers.
