Foreign Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha is embarking on a week-long visit to China today at the invitation of his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi.
Foreign Minister Shrestha will fly to China at 11 pm, according to the Foreign Ministry.
Minister Shrestha is scheduled to hold a meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang in Beijing on March 26.
While his trip to China happens to be around the same time as the Boao Forum, there are reports that he will not be attending the event. The Boao Forum for Asia will be held in Hainan, the southernmost province of China starting March 26.
Similarly, Minister Shrestha will not sign the BRI implementation project during his imminent China visit.
During a week-long China visit, Minister Shrestha will hold meetings with the secretaries of the Communist Party of China in Sichuan, Chongqing, and Tibet and also visit Kailash Manasarovar.
Earlier, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ had also visited Kailash Manasarovar during his recent China visit.
This is going to be his first China visit after Shrestha took charge as the Foreign Minister following the formation of the new ruling coalition.
He will return home on April 1.
