The Chief Minister of Bagmati Province, Shalikram Jamkattel, has secured the vote of confidence in the Provincial Assembly meeting on Monday.
Speaker Bhuwan Kumar Pathak announced that Chief Minister Jamkattel secured the vote of confidence by obtaining 56 votes.
Out of 110 Province Assembly (PA) members in the Bagmati Province, a total of 56 lawmakers voted in favor of Chief Minister Jamkattel. Thirty-seven lawmakers voted against the motion while 15 lawmakers remained neutral.
A total of 108 lawmakers including the Speaker were present in the meeting today while two lawmakers remained absent.Out of two lawmakers of Hamro Nepali Party, one lawmaker did not turn up in the meeting.
In the 110-member Bagmati Province Assembly, the ruling coalition has 57 lawmakers including 27 lawmakers from UML, 21 from Maoist Center, 7 from Unified Socialist, and two from HNP. Fifty-six lawmakers are required to secure the vote of confidence.
Nepali Congress is the largest party in Bagmati Province with 37 lawmakers, Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) has 13 lawmakers including the Speaker, and Nepal Workers Peasants and Party (NPWP) has three lawmakers.
This is the third time Chief Minister Jamkattel took the vote of confidence today. He had taken the vote of confidence on January 17, 2023 for the first time. He had received 105 votes during that period. Out of seven parties representing the Bagmati Province, six parties including Nepali Congress had voted for him.
Similarly, he took the vote of confidence on March 24, 2023 for the second time. He got votes of 67 lawmakers at that time. He hardly managed to secure the vote of confidence today.
