Nepal Samajbadi Party (NSP) led by Dr. Baburam Bhattarai has vowed its support for Dakendra Singh Thegim, the candidate fielded by the pro-identity groups for Ilam-2 by elections.
Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) decided to support Thegim in the by election on Thursday.
Issuing a press note on Friday, the NSP has urged the people of Ilam-2 to cast votes for Thegim stating that he is the crusader of identity-based federalism, good governance, national independence, social justice and fair and prosperous society.
“The NSP urges the people of Ilam-2 to cast votes for Dakendra Thegim in the by elections to be held in Ilam-2. Thegim is the strong supporter for identity-based federalism, good governance, national independence, social justice and advanced socialism,” reads the press note issued by Krishna Sharma, the spokesperson of the NSP.
Sharma in the press note has stated that the NSP has decided to support independent candidate Thegim to bail the country out of the ongoing political quagmire infested by parliamentary party political syndicate, and vested interest.
A Central Executive Committee (CEC) of the JSP held on Thursday decided to support Thegim. Meanwhile, Dharan Sub Metropolitan City Mayor Harka Sampang has launched a campaign in support of Thegim.
Suhang Nembang from CPN (UML), Dambar Khadka from Nepali Congress, Milan Limbu from Rastriya Swatantra Party alongside Thegim are contesting the by elections in Ilam-2. The elections are scheduled to be held on April 27.
Similarly, Premdeep Thamsuhang from Janamat Party and Laxmi Gurung from Rastriya Prajatantra Party are other candidates contesting Ilam-2 by polls.
The by election is taking place in Ilam-2 after UML lawmaker Subas Nembang passed away on September 11, 2023.
