A total of 20 candidates including eight independents registered candidacies for by elections to be held in Ilam constituency 2 on Saturday.
According to the Election Commission, 12 from political parties and eight independent candidates registered their candidacies at the Office of the Chief Returning Officer in Ilam from 10 am to 5 pm today.
Chief Returning Officer Keshav Prasad Ghimire informed that Suhang Nembang from CPN (UML), Dambar Khadka from Nepali Congress, Jit Bahadur Rai from CPN (Unified Socialist), Prem Kumar Thamsuhang (Premdeep) from Janamat Party, Shyam Bahadur Darji from Nepal Workers Peasants Party, Mani Bahadur Limbu from Mongol National Organization, Milan Limbu from Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) have registered their nominations in Ilam 2.
Similarly, other candidates who registered their candidacies are Laxmi Gurung from Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), Ganesh Bahadur Chauhan from RPP Nepal, Jaywant Vikram Shah from Rastriya Mukti Andolan Dal, Resham Bahadur Sunar from Nepali Janata Dal, and Dhanraj Rana Magar from National Republican Party.
Similarly, eight independent candidates including Dakendra Singh Limbu and Dak Prasad Gautam have filed their nominations, said Chief Returning Officer Ghimire.
According to the schedule unveiled by the EC, complaints against the candidates can be filed on April 7, nomination papers and the complaints filed will be examined from 3 pm to 5 pm. Similarly, the list of candidates will be published on April 8. The candidates willing to withdraw their candidacies can do by April 9. The final list of candidates will be published alongside the election symbols on the same day, according to the EC. The voting will be held on April 27.
