Lumbini’s CM Mahara, 3 ministers sworn in

Newly appointed Chief Minister of Lumbini Province Jokh Bahadur Mahara has taken the oath of office and secrecy on Sunday.

Mahara, who was appointed as the Chief Minister on Saturday, took the oath from Province Chief Amik Sherchan amidst a ceremony held at the provincial capital Deukhuri today.

Other three ministers alongside the Chief Minister took the oath today. UML deputy parliamentary party leader Chet Narayan Acharya, Janata Samajbadi Party lawmaker Bhandari Lal Ahir and Maoist Center’s Deependra Pun were sworn in as ministers without portfolio.

Mahara had staked a claim for the post of Chief Minister on Friday after outgoing Chief Minister Surendra Pandey resigned from his post on Thursday.

He submitted his claim with the support of 44 lawmakers including 29 lawmakers from UML, 10 from Maoist Center, three from Janata Samajbadi Party, one from CPN (Unified Socialist) and one independent lawmaker.
