Ireland A makes clean sweep of ODI series

Clinches 69-run win over Nepal A

Nepal A faced a 69-run defeat at the hands of Ireland A in the third unofficial ODI cricket tournament held in Kirtipur on Sunday.

With Ben White's five-wicket haul, visiting Ireland A managed to make a clean sweep of the ODI series. 

Ireland A bowled out Nepal A for 215 runs in 39.4 overs what the latter was chasing the 285-run target.

To stop Nepal A from reaching the target, Ben White took the highest five wickets haul including one maiden conceding 62 runs. Similarly, Gavin Hoey grabbed four wickets including one maiden giving away 27 runs while Matthew Foster claimed one wicket for Ireland A. 

Despite Arjun Kumal’s highest 102 runs, Nepal could not reach the target as Bhim Sarki and Rijan Dhakal, on whom the spectators pinned hope, were sent to the pavilion for golden ducks. Arjun Saud made 36 runs followed by Rupesh Singh and Naren Bhatta with equal 15 runs. Dev Khanal contributed 11 runs. Likewise, Ranjit Kumar made one run, Bikash Agri three, Shahab Alam six, and Binod Bhandari hit four runs for Nepal.

Earlier, electing to bat first after winning the toss at the TU Cricket Ground in Kirtipur, Ireland A notched up 284 runs losing nine wickets in the allotted 50 overs.

Stephen Doheny made the highest score with 107 runs including eight fours and two sixes off 129 deliveries followed by Peter Moor with 44 runs.

Similarly, Matthew Humphreys contributed 23 runs while Morgan Topping and Fionn Hand grabbed 21 and 20 runs, respectively.

In reply, Rijan Dhakal and Ranjit Kumar took three wickets each giving away 75 and 51 runs, respectively while Bikash Aagri and Shahab Alam took one wicket each for Nepal.
