Nepal has defeated Gujarat by 18 runs to win the SMS Friendship Cup T20 tri-series held in Gujarat, India on Sunday.
Abhinash Bohara took 3 wickets for Nepal to stop Gujarat from reaching the target. Similarly, Dipendra Singh Airee grabbed 2 wickets.
Earlier, electing to bat first after winning the toss at the Sai Meghpan Sporrtslife Ground, the Nepali national team had set a 177-run target for Gujarat.
Nepal scored a total of 176 runs for the loss of four wickets after playing the allotted 20 overs with the help of captain Rohit Paudel's half-century.
While chasing the target, Gujarat was restricted to 158 runs for the loss of eight wickets in the allotted 20 overs.
Captain Rohit Paudel scored the highest with 74 runs including five fours and four sixes off 47 deliveries.
Opener Aasif Sheikh smashed 34 runs, Kushal Bhurtel contributed 19 runs while Dipendra Singh Airee was dismissed for seven runs. Similarly, Kushal Malla remained unbeaten for 31 and Sundeep Jora for 7 runs.
Jaymit, Shen Patel, Tejas Patel and Yuvraj Singh took one wicket each for Gujarat.
Along with this victory, Nepal is set to participate in the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Premier Cup to be held in Oman.
