Nepali Congress General Secretary Gagan Kumar Thapa has said that the voice of identity raised in the eastern hills of Nepal should be addressed with respect.
General Secretary Thapa said so while addressing an election rally organized at Sikari Bhanjyang in Ilam-2 today.
“We should abstain from doing politics of provocations and escalations. I can incite people here through provocative speeches. Others also can do this,” said, Gagan, “However, this is not the time of inciting people through provocative words. We should handle the issue of identity with care and respect.”
Nepali Congress has faced hassles time and again. “The NC garnered two-thirds majority following the Second Constituent Assembly,” said Thapa, “But NC never used the words of incitement. The Maoist Center ran amok in the parliament building in the course writing the Constitution. The CPN (UML) had told NC to put down CPN (Maoist Center). But the NC carefully handled the situation.”
UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli had urged then NC President Sushil Koirala to put down the Maoist Center, recalled Thapa. However, NC did not listen to UML’s words but moved ahead by exercising restraints and handling the situation carefully. Otherwise, the country would have plunged into a political crisis again.
Thapa stressed the need to respectfully address the issue of identity raised in the eastern hills of the country.
Currently, General Secretary duo Thapa and Bishwa Prakash Sharma are currently in Ilam constituency 2 to turn the tables in favor of Dambar Khadka in the elections scheduled for April 27.
