The Nepal government has recommended Dr Anjan Shakya for the vacant post in the National Assembly.
A meeting of the Council of Ministers held on Friday decided to recommend Shakya for the vacant post of National Assembly, informed Minister for Communication and Information Technology Rekha Sharma, who is also the government spokesperson.
“Dr Anjan Shakya has been recommended for the vacant post of the National Assembly,” Minister Sharma said following the cabinet meeting.
Prior to this, Shakya, who originally hais from Shankhuwasabh, had been appointed as the Nepali Ambassador to Israel in February 2019 during the premiership of KP Sharma Oli.
With working experiences as an assistant professor at Padmakanya College, the chairperson of International Concern Center, Nepal as well as that of Nepal Women Chamber of Commerce, Shakya holds a PhD in Management.
In 2064 BS, when Oli was the Minister for Foreign Affairs, he appointed Dr Anjan Shakya as the Deputy Executive Director at the Institute of Foreign Affairs Studies under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
A UML leader, speaking on condition of anonymity, commented that she appears to be the sole UML member fortunate enough to secure coveted government posts on multiple occasions.
