The United States has reaffirmed its commitment to standing with Nepal in times of crisis, offering its continued support and solidarity.
Commemorating eight soldiers -- six Americans and two Nepalis) -- who lost their lives during recovery efforts after multiple earthquake struck Nepal in May 2015, US Embassy in Kathmandu on Sunday expressed its solidarity with the Himalayan nation in times crisis and vowed to continue “their legacy of selflessness and valor.”
Ambassador to Nepal Dean R Thompson, who attended the commemoration ceremony, offered floral tributes to the departed souls at a wreath-laying ceremony held in Kathmandu today.
After attending the ceremony, Ambassador Thomson said, “The actions of Capt. Dustin Lukasiewicz, Capt. Christopher Norgren, Sgt. Ward Johnson, Sgt. Eric Seaman, Cpl. Sara Medina, Lance Cpl. Jacob Hug, Tapendra Rawal, and Basanta Titara serve as a poignant reminder of the unbreakable spirit of the human heart and the power of unity and solidarity in times of crisis.”
These eight soldiers had lost their lives in the course of rescuing five Nepali people injured in the 2015 earthquake that devastated Nepal.
