The parliamentary party (PP) meeting of Nepali Congress (NC) has called a joint meeting of opposition parties represented in the parliament.
The NC’s PP meeting at Lhotse Hall of the federal parliament building in New Baneshwar called the joint meeting of the opposition parties, said NC Vice President Dhanraj Gurung.
According to Gurung, Janata Samajbadi Party Nepal (JSP-N), Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), Loktantrik Samajbadi Party (LSP), Nepal Workers Peasants Party (NWPP) and Rastriya Janamorcha have been invited to the meeting.
The joint meeting is expected to devise a strategy on how to present in the meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR). The House meeting has been called for 11 am today.
Nepali Congress has been disrupting the House meetings calling for the formation of a parliamentary probe committee to look into the alleged involvement of Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane into misappropriation of cooperatives’ funds.
There was a hullabaloo in the House meeting yesterday, too, with NC lawmakers shouting slogans demanding the formation of the parliamentary probe committee.
After reading out some letters from the President, Speaker Ghimire called on Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane to speak up on the questions raised against him. No sooner had Speaker Ghimire called Home Minister Lamichhane, than the NC lawmakers left their seats and gheraoed the well, barring Lamichhane from heading to the rostrum.
Meanwhile, NC Vice President Dhanraj Gurung had a spat with Oli after the latter tried to intervene in the protesters and told them to clear off for Lamichhane.
Speaker Devraj Ghimire postponed the meeting for 11 am Friday following the protests by the NC lawmakers.
