Not only cooperatives, those who raised goats and poultry be investigated: DPM Lamichhane

Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) and Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane has said that not only cooperatives’ fraud but also those who embezzled agricultural subsidies should be investigated.

Addressing the meeting of the House of Representatives on Sunday, Home Minister Lamichhane challenged the government to take action against him after gathering evidence. He said that he is ready to face it while answering the questions raised by main opposition Nepali Congress on the allegations leveled against him on the embezzlement of cooperatives’ funds.

"Let's investigate the cases of those who raised poultry, fish, and goats by misappropriating the agricultural subsidy," said Lamichhane.

In addition, he also called for actions against those agents who divulged the country's classified information to foreigners for money. “Let's investigate those agents who sold the classified information of the country to foreigners,” said Lamichhane. 

Once Home Minister Lamichhane finished delivering his speech, Speaker Devraj Ghimire formally ended today’s meeting, without floating other agendas. The next meeting has been called for 11 am Monday.

Earlier, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ held a meeting with chief whips of the ruling coalition prior to the meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR). 

Convened at the federal parliament building in New Baneshwar, Prime Minister discussed ways to resume the parliament meetings with chief whips of CPN (UML), CPN (Maoist Center), Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), CPN (Unified Socialist), the Prime Minister’s Secretariat said.

The meeting had agreed to allow Home Minister Lamichhane to speak up on the allegations leveled against him in the parliament. 

Nepali Congress has been disrupting House proceedings demanding a parliamentary investigation committe to probe Home Minister Lamichhane for his alleged involvement in the embezzlement of cooperatives' funds.
