The Government of Nepal has expressed sorrow over the passing of President of Iran, Dr Ebrahim Raisi in a helicopter crash on Sunday.
"We are deeply saddened to know about the passing away of His Excellency Dr. Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi, President, and His Excellency Dr. Hossein Amir Abdollahian, Minister of Foreign Affairs, of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the helicopter crash yesterday," the Ministry of Foreign Affairs posted on social media platform, X, today.
The Ministry also extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members, and the government and people of Iran.
Iranian President Raisi, the country’s foreign minister and others were found dead at the site of a helicopter crash Monday after an hourslong search through a foggy, mountainous region of the country’s northwest, state media reported. Raisi was 63.
The crash comes as the Middle East remains unsettled by the Israel-Hamas war, during which Raisi under Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei launched an unprecedented drone-and-missile attack on Israel just last month.
