Senior Divisional Engineer Nabin Kumar Pokharel, who was found guilty in the procurement of security printing press, has been found dead.
Pokharel was found hanging in his own house in Bhaktapur on Thursday, informed SP Ajaya KC of Bhaktpur District Police Office.
A preliminary investigation of the police shows that Pokharel committed suicide. Police have also recovered a suicide note from the incident site.
Four individuals including Pokharel had been found guilty in the procurement of security printing press case.
Special Court had sentenced Pokharel to six months in jail along with a fine of Rs 58 million 455 thousands 159.
He had been suspended last year.
The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) had filed a graft case against nine individuals including Pokharel in the breach of tender contract and payment.
A joint bench of Special Court Chairman Tek Narayan Kunwar and member Murari Babu Shrestha had issued this verdict.
Police said they are carrying out further investigation into the case.
