Around 12 passengers sustained injuries while traveling on a Qatar Airways flight from Doha to Ireland, Dublin Airport said on Sunday. The injuries occurred during a bout of turbulence, however, the plane landed safely and as per the scheduled time, The Times of India Reported.

Flight QR017, a Boeing 787 Dreamliner, landed shortly before 1 pm in Dublin time, according to the airport.

"Upon landing, the aircraft was met by emergency services, including Airport Police and our Fire and Rescue department, due to six passengers and six crew (12 total) on board reporting injuries after the aircraft experienced turbulence while flying over Turkey," Dublin Airport said in a statement.

Five days ago, a Singapore Airlines flight bound for Singapore from London had to make an emergency landing in Bangkok due to turbulence. A 73-year-old British man was killed and 20 others sustained severe injuries.

According to the US agency, turbulence was responsible for over a third of the reported airline accidents from 2009 to 2018.
