Foreign Minister Dr Narayan Khadka called off his three-day visit to Indonesia, which was to begin from Wednesday.

According to sources at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Minister Khadka cancelled his trip upon the instructions of Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba.

The minister was scheduled to reach Bali, Indonesia, on Wednesday to take part in the 15th Bali Democracy Forum to be held on Thursday.

"Prime Minister Deuba asked the minister to put off the visit this morning questioning its relevancy," a senior official at the ministry told Nepalkhabar Monday afternoon.

Officials had made all preparations for the visit. However, the visit was not endorsed by the Council of Ministers.

As per the itinerary, Minister Khadka was supposed leave Kathmandu for Indonesia on Tuesday.

Even as the minister's visit has been put off, Joint Secretary Lok Bahadur Thapa, who heads North-East Division at the ministry, will lead a Nepali delegation to the 15th Bali Democracy Forum.
