Minister of Communications and Information Technology Gyanendra Bahadur Karki has called on President Bidhya Devi Bhandari on Tuesday.
On the eve of the formation of the new government, Minister Karki reached the President's Office, Sheetal Niwas, as top political leaders are pulling strings to strike a power-sharing deal after none of the political parties' could garner clear majority to form a majority government.
Sources in the President's Office said Minister Karki discussed possible power equations and contemporary national issues with the President.
He held a 45-minute long meeting with the President and apprised the President of the decision of the ruling coalition meeting held on Monday. The incumbent ruling coalition decided to give continuity to the existing alliance in Monday's meeting.
Minister Karki is a confidante of Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and his increased activity can be viewed as an effort to form a new government again under the leadership of Deuba.
Earlier on Monday, Minister Karki, who returned to Kathmandu after winning the election from Sunsari constituency 4, met CPN (Maoist Center) Chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' at the latter's residence in Khumaltar, Lalitpur.
