The Office of the President has entrusted the incumbent government led by Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ to carry out its duties until the next government is formed.
Sheetal Niwas assigned the government to perform as a caretaker government after Prime Minister Prachanda lost the vote of confidence today.
“The incumbent government will carry out its duties and responsibilities until the next government is formed in accordance with Article 77 (3) of the Constitution,” reads the press note issued by Shailaja Regmi, spokesperson at the Office of the President.
Earlier, Prime Minister Prachanda went to Sheetal Niwas to meet with the President Ramchandra Paudel.
He briefed the President about the HoR meetings and his failure to secure the vote of confidence during the meeting.
After holding the meeting with the President, he left for his residence in Khumaltar without going to Baluwatar, sources have said.
Prachanda went to Sheetal Niwas after he failed to secure the vote of confidence in the meeting of the House of Representatives today.
