Senior Advocate Ramesh Badal has been appointed to the post of Attorney General.
Ramchandra Paudel appointed Badal of Kathmandu Metropolitan City-7 as the Attorney General in accordance with Article 157 (2) of the Constitution of Nepal, reads the press note issued by Sheetal Niwas.
The Attorney General, the legal advisor to the government, is appointed by the President on the recommendation of the Prime Minister.
This is the second time Badal was appointed to the post of Attorney General during Oli’s tenure as the Prime Minister.
Previous Attorney General Dr. Dinmani Pokharel tendered his resignation after the new government was formed. The President has already approved his resignation.
Badal had become the Attorney General for the first time on March 19, 2021 during the premiership of Oli.
He tendered his resignation from his post on July 13, 2021 after the Oli-government collapsed following the mandamus issued by the Supreme Court and Sher Bahadur Deuba was appointed as the new Prime Minister.
