Renowned folk singer Laxmi Prasad Joshi (LP Joshi) has passed away. He was 88.
Joshi, who originally hails from Damak-1, Jhapa passed away in his hometown in Damak on Thursday, his family sources said.
"He collapsed while eating and was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead," said litterateur Dhankute Kanchha.
Joshi, who introduced the musical instrument 'Binayo' across the country, was active and agile even in his late 80s.
He had performed his songs 'Riting, Riting, Nabajau Binayo', 'Ollo Kholo, Pallo Kholo' in at a program organized by Surabhi Kalakendra, Damak on the occasion of Guru Purnima last Sunday, litterateur Kanchha.
'Riting, Riting, Nabajau Binayo', 'Ollo Kholo, Pallo Kholo', 'Kanchhi Matyang-tyang' are some of his popular numbers that have won the hearts of many music enthusiasts in Nepal and abroad.
His final rites are being performed at Kankai Mai River at 11 am on Friday, his family sources said.
