Lawmakers from the opposition parties have reiterated their demand that the Prime Minister provide further clarification regarding his remarks on the country's border.
At today's meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR), the opposition lawmakers stood from their respective seats and Speaker Dol Prasad Aryal allowed them time to put forth their views.
Renuka Kauncha of the Nepali Congress was of the view that issues meant to be explained in the parliament were instead presented in the party's General Convention by the Prime Minister. "It is capable of undermining the dignity of parliament," she argued.
Dr Pushpa Raj Kandel of the CPN (UML) urged the Prime Minister to clarify about this statement through the parliament. He also expressed objection to the arrest of UML Vice- Chair Bishnu Prasad Paudel.
Yubaraj Dulal of the Nepali Communist Party stressed that government's efforts be centred on strengthening federal democratic republic. He objected to a proposal of the ruling Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) to dissolve the Province Assembly and restructure the federal system.
Aren Rai of the Shram Sanskriti Party also demanded that the Prime Minister clarified his remarks in the parliament.
