Tehrathum representatives urge PM Oli to allocate budget for pending projects

The residents of Tehrathum have congratulated KP Sharma Oli on his fourth appointment as the Prime Minister of Nepal and requested him to allocate budgets for the pending projects in the district.

A delegation comprising the Member of Parliament (MP) elected from the district, local representatives and people in general reached Baluwatar on Monday morning and congratulated Prime Minister Oli and wished him a successful tenure ahead.

Congratulating Oli, MP Sita Gurung said, “You were born and spent your childhood in Tehrathum and now you have become the Prime Minister for the fourth time. The entire people of Tehrathum are proud of you for achieving this feat. I would like to congratulate and wish you a successful tenure ahead on behalf of the people of Tehrathum.”

While congratulating Prime Minister Oli, MP Gurung also requested for the budget allocations for the unfinished projects in the district. “The school where you first went to learn alphabets lacks basic infrastructures, roads are not reliable, and the ongoing construction of hospitals and bridges have been in limbo due to lack of sufficient budget,” said Gurung, adding, “The proposed Chuhandanda Airport has not moved forward. Its basic technical assessment is still incomplete. We district residents are hopeful that you will facilitate for the completion of these projects," said Gurung.

Prime Minister Oli, who listened to MP Gurung’s plea with interest and curiosity, said that he has a special interest in the development of Tehrathum. Oli was born at Atharai Rural Municipality-4, Khanigaun on February 23, 1952. He had spent his childhood in the village of Tehrathum until he was 12 years. His family migrated to Jhapa in 1964. He had celebrated his birthday in his birth place, Kanigaun when he became the prime minister of Nepal for the second time.

Speaking on the congratulatory event, Chairman of Atharai Rural Municipality, Dil Kumar Pahim expressed his grievances stating that the village development could not take pace even after many individuals born in the land of Atharai assumed the leading posts of the state. “The Prime Minister of the country is from our village.  The villagers are proud of you for becoming the prime minister and equally hopeful that the pending projects in the district will gain momentum during your tenure.”

Lawmaker Gurung said that the government should take the initiative in taking the reservoir-based Tamor Hydropower project forward. Submitting a memorandum to the Prime Minister, the delegation drew the Prime Minister’s attention toward the constructions of a 15-bed hospital at Atharai, Jirikhimti-Morahang-Samdu road, Lubughat Motorable Bridge, Limbuni Motorable Bridge, Hakparaghat Motorable Bridge and blacktopping of the remaining part of Mid-Hill Highway and upgradation of roads in the district.
