Classical music guru Gurudev Kamat passes away

Gurudev Kamat, a revered figure in the Nepali music field and guru of classical music, has passed away. He was 69.

According to his family sources, he breathed his last at 7:30 am today at Pokharbhinda in Patari Rural Municipality, Siraha, his birthplace.

Kamat had long been suffering from kidney ailment.

Kamat returned to Siraha from Kathmandu only a month ago after facing financial crisis for treatment.

He was living in Kathmandu and contributing to the field of Nepali music and classical music.

Classical music guru Kamat was born at Pokharbhinda in Siraha on August 1, 1955.
