The government has recommended Junga Bahadur Chauhan as the ambassador to superpower country, Russia.
Chauhan has good command over Russian language. He did Master’s Degree (1983) and Doctorate (2000) in Russian Language and Literature. He is known for translating Russian literature into Nepali and vice versa.
Chairman of the Nepal-Russia Literary Society, Chauhan has translated dozen of works including, Rasiyako Gahiraima, Nilo Akash and Duithopa Ansu, Samjhanama Rus (co-authored).
Russia is the country of his choice for an ambassadorial calling, Chauhan has said.
“I am familiar with Russian society, culture, life-style,” said Chauhan, “I have spent 13 years as a student and researcher in Russia. I know a lot of people working in literature, universities, and journalism.”
Hence, if I am made the ambassador for Russia, it will be easier for me to work with Russia.
“The government has prioritized economy in its foreign policy,” said Chauhan, “It should be taken forward. We should bolster cultural and social ties with Russia. I will do these jobs.”
