NC picks Shah, Bhandari, Adhikari and Budha as ministers for Karnali govt

Nepali Congress has finalized the list of minsters to participate in the government of Karnali Province, said Hikmat Bista, the chief whip of the Nepali Congress Karnali Province Committee.

According to Bista, Raj Bikram Shah has been recommended as the Minister for Economic Affairs and Planning, Ghana Shyam Bhandari (Social Development), Suresh Adhikari (Industry, Tourism, Forest and Environment and Bijaya Budha has been picked as the Minister for Water Resources and Energy Development.

Nepali Congress made a comeback to the government of Karnali Province following the new power-sharing agreement between Nepali Congress and CPN (UML) in the center.

According to the agreement in the center, UML will lead the government in Karnali Province. UML province party leader Yamlal Kandel is the chief minister of the Karnali Province.

Similarly, newly elected Province Chief Yagya Raj Joshi has assumed office in Surkhet on Friday.

“We have finalized the list of ministers and submitted it to the Chief Minister Kandel. He will probably send the list to the Province Chief for swearing in today,” Bista told Nepalkhabar.

Shah, Bhandari, and Budha among those recommended as ministers from Nepali Congress are from the establishment side while Adhikari is from the non-establishment side.

In the eight-member cabinet of the Karnali Province, UML leads three ministries including the post of the Chief Minister.
