Nepali Congress leader Kamal Bahadur Shah has been reelected as the Chief Minister of Sudurpashchim Province.

Nepali Congress Parliamentary Party leader Kamal Bahadur Shah has been appointed as the Chief Minister of Sudurpashchim Province.

Province Chief Nazir Miya appointed Shah as the Chief Minister on Sunday. He had submitted a claim to the post of Chief Minister with the support of UML.

This is the second time Shah has become the Chief Minister.

Earlier, Shah had become the Chief Minister on April 4, 2024 and tendered his resignation on February 9, 2023 following the power equation in the center.

He is the fifth chief minister in Sudurpaschim Province government. Maoist Center's Trilochan Bhatta served as the chief minister for the full five-year term of the first Province Assembly.

Rajendra Rawal, Kamal Bahadur Shah and Dirgha Sodari had served as Chief Minister prior to this.

Sodari fell into minority following the power equation reached between Nepali Congress and UML on July 1.

Sodari stepped down as the chief minister last Friday after falling into minority.
