The government has scrapped the post of National Security Advisor.
A meeting of the Council of Ministers scrapped the position effective from today, informed Minister for Communications and Information Technology Prthvi Subba Gurung said.
Making public the decisions taken by the cabinet on Tuesday, Minister Gurung said,"The government decided to scrap Directives related to Appointment, Condition of Service and Facilities, 2080 for the appointment of national security advisor to the National Security Council."
Along with this, the post of National Security Council has been scrapped.
Likewise, the meeting agreed on the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding to receive grant assistance of around Rs 6.58 billion (38.5 million pounds sterling) from the UK government to implement the "Samartha: Enhancing Gender and Human Development Outcomes through Systems Strengthening" program.
Govt unveils 14 decisions
Minister for Communications and Information Technology and the Spokesperson for the government, Prithvi Subba Gurung, unveiled the 14 decisions of the Cabinet.
The meeting has decided to form a talks team regarding accepting 20 million US Dollar grant and 10 million loan assistance proposed by the Asian Development Bank to implement the 'Climate Resilient Landscape and Livelihood Project'.
Likewise, the meeting agreed on the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding to receive grant assistance of around Rs 6.58 billion (38.5 million pounds sterling) from the UK government to implement the "Samartha: Enhancing Gender and Human Development Outcomes through Systems Strengthening" programme.
Similarly, Minister Gurung said the government has decided to entertain a Memorandum of Understanding for the grant assistance of around 6.58 billion (38.5 million pounds sterling) from the UK government to implement the Resilience, Adaptation, and Inclusion in Nepal.
The meeting decided to assign Shyamji Pradhan, judge of High Court Tulsipur, Nepalgunj bench, as the law member and chair of the Revenue Tribunal, Nepalgunj under the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs.
As per the Cabinet decisions, secretary Uday Raj Sapkota (Truth and Reconciliation Commission) has been transferred to the Ministry of Law, Justice and Federal Affairs, and secretary Phanidra Gautam (Ministry of Law, Justice and Federal Affairs) to the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers.
The Cabinet has decided to promote officers of the gazetted first class of the law group of the Nepal Judicial Service to the special class and assign their postings accordingly.
As per the decision, joint secretary Alok Chandra Shrestha of the Defence Ministry has been posted as the secretary of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, and joint secretary Parashwor Dhungana of Nepal Law Commission has been promoted to the post of secretary at the Commission itself.
Judge Janak Pandey of the High Court, Surkhet has been designed as the Chair of the Labour Court.
Towards the Home Ministry, the decision was taken to promote Deputy Inspector General of Police, Ram Dutta Joshi, to the post of Additional Inspector General of Civil Police of the Nepal Police as well as transfer to Additional Inspector General of the Nepal Police, Deepak Thapa, at Central Investigation Bureau from Kathmandu Valley Police Office, Shyam Lal Gyawali at Nepal Police Headquarters from Central Investigation Bureau and Kiran Bajracharya at Kathmandu Valley Police Office from Police Headquarters.
Towards the Defense Ministry, the government decided to promote a Brigadier General to the post of Major General, four Colonels to the post of Brigadier General, one Lieutenant Colonel as Colonel and one acting Colonel as Colonel.
Similarly, the government decided to scrap Directives related to Appointment, Condition of Service and Facilities, 2080 for the appointment of national security advisor to the National Security Council.
Towards the Urban Development Ministry, decision was taken to appoint Rajesh Kumar Bhochhibhoya, Deputy Manager of the Municipal Development Fund to work for three months as per the Town Development Fund Act, 2053 as well as appoint one office-bearer as the member of Municipal Development Fund Board of Directors in all seven provinces.
The cabinet decided to appoint Mayor of Rangeli municipality, Dilip Kumar Agrawal, in Koshi Province, Mayor of Barathahawa municipality, Kalpana Katuwal, in Madhesh Province, Mayor of Gokarneshwor municipality, Deepak Risal, in Bagmati province, Deputy-Mayor of Pokhara Metropolitan City, Manju Gurung, in Gandak province, Mayor of Tilottama municipality, Ram Krishna Khand, in Lumbini Province, Mayor of Panjari Municipality, Lal Bir Bhandari, in Karnali Province, and Mayor of Lamkichuha municipality, Sushila Shahi, in Sudurpaschim Province.
Toward the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, a three-member probe commission was formed under coordination of senior pilot of the Nepali Army, Subas Thapa, to investigate the incident of Air Dynasty helicopter crash taken place at Suryachour of Shvapuri rural municipality in Nuwakot district on August 7. The Commission has been asked to submit its report within 30 days.
