India is going to provide financial support for the launch of satellite 'Munal' made by Nepali students.
NewSpace India Ltd. and the Ministry of External Affairs on Saturday reached an agreement to provide financial assistance for the launch of the satellite.
The agreement has been signed by Anurag Srivastav, head of the Northern Division at the Ministry of External Affairs, and A. Arunachalam, the director at NewSpace India Limited.
Present in the signing ceremony were Rabindra Prasad Dhakal, secretary at the Nepal Academy of Science and Technology (NAST), charge d' affaires at the Embassy of Nepal, New Delhi, Dr. Surendra Thapa, and Dr. Abhas Maskey, founder of Space Academy Nepal.
The agreement for the launch of satellite had been reached during the official visit of Indian Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar who came to Kathmandu to attend the Seventh Meeting of the Nepal-India Joint Commission in January 2024.
The test flight of satellite Munal had been conducted in Bengaluru India. Its shape is similar to the Nepali SAT-1. Satellite Munal has been made by 12 graders of government schools.
The satellite will be launched soon. It will be launched in India, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
