Secretary of the Ministry of External Affairs of India, Vikram Misri, arrived on a two-day official visit to Nepal at the invitation of his Nepali counterpart Sewa Lamsal on Sunday morning.
Foreign Secretary Lamsal welcomed Misri at the Tribhuvan International Airport a while ago. Misri arrived on an official visit to Nepal as part of the customary tradition to visit neighboring countries following the appointment as the secretary of Foreign Affairs Ministry.
Misri was appointed as the foreign secretary of India on July 29.
Misri’s visit is expected to bolster ties between Nepal and India and that the issues related to mutual cooperation and bilateral interests will be discussed during the meetings with him, according to the Foreign Ministry.
The Indian Foreign Secretary is scheduled to pay a courtesy call on President Ramchandra Paudel, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Foreign Minister Arzu Rana during his Nepal visit.
He will return home on Monday, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
