Senor leader of Nepali Congress Dr Shekhar Koirala has urged the leadership that the 15th General Convention of the party be held on time.

Speaking at the meeting of the Central Working Committee (CWC) of the party in Sanepa on Sunday, Koirala said that the party must guarantee that the upcoming general convention be held in November 2025.

“This CWC meeting should sort out the issues including active memberships that have remained pending since the 14th General Convention and ensure that the upcoming general convention be held in November 2025,” said Koirala, “If the convention is delayed under any pretext, it will jeopardize both NC and democracy. The NC’s general convention should be held every four years.”

Koirala claimed to have stressed the timely general convention as a crucial step to revitalize the party, eliminating existing discrepancies and irregularities.

Stating that he is not for reviewing the roles played by the leadership in the past eight years in the national politics (referring to president Deuba), Koirala said, “Why NC shrank in size yesterday and emerged as the largest party again owing to the electoral alliance, despite losing public support. I leave it to history to review all these objectively.
