In the courtesy meeting held at the Office of the President in Shital Niwas, Secretary Misri and the President Paudel discussed the issues related to bilateral interests and cooperation, Shitwal Niwas said.

During the meeting President Paudel said that Nepal and India should jointly work toward mitigating the climate change impact.

“Both the countries should jointly work toward dealing with the climate change impact and its mitigation. The life of human beings thrives on the preservation of mountains and water resources,” Press Advisor Kiran Pokharel quoted the President as saying.

Stating that the peoples to peoples relations between Nepal and India has existed since time immemorial, President Paudel lauded India for its assistance in Nepal’s development sector and expressed belief that the bilateral relations between the two countries will take a new height during Misri’s tenure as the Foreign Secretary of India.

Paudel emphasized the need to strengthen bilateral ties and cooperation for the mutual benefits and prosperity of both nations and added that agricultural modernization, infrastructure development, hydropower generation, trade, investment, tourism, and human resources development are the priorities of Nepal.

He further highlighted Nepal's immense potential for hydropower development and emphasized the opportunities for sustainable and affordable power trade.

In response, visiting secretary Misri assured that India will collaborate with Nepal toward mitigating climate change impact stating that these issues are posing challenges to the development and prosperity of both countries.
