Foreign secretaries of Nepal and India review bilateral ties including energy, trade, and transit

Agree to advance engagements through bilateral mechanisms

Foreign Secretary Ms. Sewa Lamsal held a bilateral meeting with the visiting Foreign Secretary of India, Vikram Misri, in Kathmandu on Monday.

During the meeting held at the Foreign Ministry in Singha Durbar, the two secretaries discussed the entire gamut of bilateral relations ranging from the energy sector to digital connectivity and agriculture to tourism.

Issuing a press note, the Foreign Ministry said, "Two sides reviewed the overall aspects of Nepal-India relations including cooperation between the two countries in the areas of energy and power sector, physical and digital connectivity, agriculture, tourism, trade and transit, and people to people relations."

Two foreign secretaries also agreed to advance engagements reached between the two sides through regular bilateral mechanisms.

Indian Foreign Secretary Misri, who came to Nepal on a two-day official visit at the invitation of Nepali counterpart Sewa Lamal paid courtesy calls on President Ramchandra Paudel, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba and CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda'.

Similarly, Misri also paid courtesy calls on Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Urban Development Prakash Man Singh, DPM and Finance Minister Bisnhu Paudel, Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak, and Foreign Affairs Minister Arzu Rana Deuba.

Matters of mutual interests and bilateral cooperation were discussed during the meetings, according to a press note issued by the Foreign Ministry.

Misri returned home this evening after wrapping up his two-day official visit to Nepal. He was bidden adieu at the Tribhuvan International Airport by Foreign Secretary Lamsal.
