Following criticisms from all quarters, Chief Minister of Madhesh Province, Satish Kumar Singh, has removed all the state ministers.

Lumbanath Pokharel, the personal secretary of Province Chief Sumitra Bhandari, confirmed that the Office of the Province Chief has received the letter from the Office of the Chief Minister regarding the reformation of the cabinet with the removal of eight state ministers.

“Eight state ministers have been relieved of their posts,” he said, “With this, the cabinet has been downsized into a 12-member.”

Singh came under fire after he formed a 20-member cabinet including eight state ministers. His party also sought a clarification after he formed a jumbo Council of Ministers.

Three state ministers who were appointed from CPN (UML), however, submitted their resignations to the parliamentary party leader Saroj Kumar Yadav on Monday itself, according to state minister Keshav Raya.

Minister of State for Health and Population, Keshav Raya said, “We submitted our resignations to parliamentary party leader yesterday. He has informed the Chief Minister about it this morning.”

Mohammad Jaid Alam, Keshav Raya, Sharada Devi Thapa from UML, Ram Babu Yadav from Loktantri Samajbadi Party, Shambu Kumar Sah and Ranju Khanga from Janamat Party, and Rekha Thakur and Nilam Kumari from Nepali Congress had been appointed as state ministers.

Singh has relieved theme of their posts. Now there are only 12 members in the cabinet in the Madhesh Province.
