A meeting of the House of Representatives under the Federal Parliament is taking place today.

The meeting has been called to endorse the Commission for Investigation of Forced Disappeared Persons, Truth and Reconciliation (Third Amendment) Bill, 2081 BS. The meeting will start at 1 pm.

The report on the Investigation of Enforced Disappeared Persons, Truth and Reconciliation Commission (Third Amendment) Bill, 2081 was tabled in the House meeting on Tuesday.

Chairperson of the Law, Justice and Human Rights Committee, Bimala Subedi tabled the Committee's report on the bill in the HoR meeting yesterday.

The HoR had sent the bill to the Committee for clause-wise discussions. It may be noted that the committee’s meeting on August 8 unanimously passed the report on the bill.

In today's meeting, Minister for Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs Ajaya Kumar Chaurasiya will submit a proposal in the meeting seeking deliberation and endorsement of the bill, according to the Federal Parliament Secretariat.

Top leaders including Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba, CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' will deliberate on the bill before the Parliament Secretariat proceeds with subsequent procedural steps.

If the bill is endorsed by today's HoR meeting, it will be forwarded to the National Assembly for endorsement tomorrow.

A three-member task force comprising leaders of major political parties had reached consensus on some points of the bill which remained thorny in the parliamentary committee.
