Ruling CPN (UML) has decided to recommend lawmaker Thakur Gaire as the chairperson of the Monitoring and Evaluation of the Implementation of the Directive Principles, Policies and Obligations of the State Committee.

UML Parliamentary Party Whip Sunita Baral informed that the party is going to field Gaire as the chairperson of the Committee.

While Nepali Congress and UML initially shared leadership of two joint committees in the Federal Parliament, one of the committees eventually came under the control of the UML. Gaire is the member of the House of Representatives.

National Assembly member Tulasa Kumari Dahal had shown her interest in the post of chairperson of this Committee. The UML leadership picked Gaire for the post, eventually.

Similarly, Nepali Congress will lead the Parliamentary Hearing Committee, according to the power sharing agreement. Congress is going to nominate lawmaker Ishwari Devi Neupane as the chairperson of this Committee, sources have said.

The elections for the chairpersons of these committees have been scheduled for tomorrow (Thursday).

The candidates are filing nominations today. “I am registering my candidacy for the post at 2 pm,” lawmaker Gaire told Nepalkhabar.
