Foreign Affairs Minister Rana to fly to India on Sunday

Preparations underway to arrange her meeting with Modi

Foreign Affairs Minister Arzu Rana Deuba is embarking on a five-day visit to India on Sunday.

According to a source at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Minister Rana is scheduled to go to India at 11 am on Sunday (Aug 18).

She will hold a meeting with her Indian counterpart S. Jaishankar in New Delhi, the Foreign Ministry has said.

Preparations are also being made to arrange her meeting with Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, according to sources. However, her meeting with Modi has not yet been confirmed.

If the meeting with Modi is fixed, she will invite Modi to Nepal on behalf of Prime Minister Oli, the source told Nepalkhabar.

Joint Secretary Bhrigu Dhungana, the head of South Asia Division at the Foreign Ministry, Undersecretary Sirjana Adhikari will accompany Minister Rana. The cabinet meeting has already approved the Rana’s India visit.

Rana will fly to New Delhi on Sunday and return home on Thursday.
