Minister for Foreign Affairs Arzu Rana Deuba is embarking on a five-day official visit to India today at the invitation of her Indian counterpart S. Jaishankar.

She will fly to New Delhi at 11:30 am from the Tribhuvan International Airport, the Foreign Ministry has said.

Preparations have been made to hold meetings with Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi and Indian counterpart S Jaishankar. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of India in a statement on Saturday said that Nepal is a priority partner in India's neighborhood policy.

"The visit of the Foreign Minister is in keeping with the tradition of regular high-level exchanges between India and Nepal. Nepal is a priority partner of India in its Neighborhood First policy. The forthcoming visit will provide both sides an opportunity to discuss and review the progress in bilateral cooperation and help in advancing our ties further," reads the press note issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of India.

Meeting with Prime Minister Modi has not been confirmed due to busy schedule of Indian Prime Minister Modi. Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim is also visiting India this week at the invitation Modi. However, the officials in New Delhi have promised to make arrangements for the meeting.

Minister Rana will hold a meeting with Minister for External Affairs of India Jaishankar and discuss matters of mutual interest for further strengthening Nepal-India relations and promoting cooperation on Monday, according to the Foreign Ministry.

The Ministry hoped that as part of the regular exchange of high-level visits between Nepal and India, this visit would further consolidate the age-old, deep, and multifaceted bilateral relations. Minister Rana is scheduled to return home on August 22, the Ministry stated.
