Former Nepali Ambassador to India Deep Kumar Upadhyay has said that a favorable government has been formed in Nepal to improve relations with India.

There has been a favorable situation for both Nepal and India to mend ties, said Upadhyay while talking about Foreign Minister Arzu Rana’s India visit.

“Foreign Minister Arzu Rana has an opportunity amidst glaring challenges. Our diplomatic efforts in the past have been weak”. Let’s strengthen it,” said former Ambassador Upadhyaya.

Talking to New Agencies Nepal in Kathmandu Upadhyay claimed the Nepal-India relation can be taken to a new height if Minister Rana honestly renders efforts.

He stressed the need to align words with actions stating that the Nepal-India relation is different compared to that of many other countries and added that the bilateral relation can be strengthened by identifying the core issues.

“The issues should be identified. Efforts should be rendered honestly to resolve them. I would like to advise her to move ahead by keeping in mind the comments posted on social media,” he said.

Stating that Nepal made many mistakes in the past, Upadhyay advised Minister Rana not to repeat such follies and talk cautiously during bilateral meetings.
